About Us
About Muskaan UK
“Muskaan” (means a smile on a young child’s face) was found by Suki Chawla and Sam Gossain in 2007 with the purpose of taking some time out of our busy lives and dedicating to the well being of under privileged children. We cannot change the world overnight, but we can improve the quality of life for some. Sadly, Suki is no longer with us but her aspirations continue to inspire us to carry on her work.
To-date we have worked with UK and International Rotary Clubs mainly through the Rotary Club in Pune, India. Vilas Jagtap (District Governor – 2008-09) works tirelessly on local charity projects and we choose specific parts of their projects to fund.
The trustees ensure that there is always local involvement and contribution towards the chosen projects and visits are made to the selected schools.
In 2009-10 the Rotary organisation had a matching fund system whereby for every £1 we raised, UK and International Rotary clubs added £2. So the amount we raised was tripled! See our Projects page for details of how that money was used.
